A pulley cable breaking is a pretty common problem that happens to garage doors. When it does break your door will not function.

Some signs that the pulley cable has broken include:

  • Has the door been jerking or shaking when in use lately? This is a sign that the bearings in one or more of the pulleys are going bad.
  • Is the pulley centered on the bracket? If not, this is a good indication that the pulley has broken. 
  • Is the door closing evenly? If one pulley is going bad it might not close one side all the way.
